19th May 2023 – Drumossie Hotel

The Oxygen Works were delighted to be the nominated charity for this year’s Inverness Chamber of Commerce Highland Business Dinner held at the Drumossie Hotel on Friday 19th May 2023.

Leigh-Ann Little CEO, Dan Jenkins Chair, Jenni Donnelly General Manager & Gordon Buchanan MBE

An incredible £3,870 was raised by those in attendance at the dinner which will be ringfenced towards the purchase of a soft-shell chamber which will allow us to expand our oxygen therapy provision to those who cannot easily access our hard-shell chamber on site.   The soft-shell chamber will offer as a mobile solution which could be used to great effect with paediatric clients who often struggle to find a suitable method of oxygen delivery within our large chamber (with masks often being too large to fit smaller faces and the option of an oxygen hood being additionally claustrophobic).  A mobile chamber will also offer us, for the first time, the ability to take oxygen to remote individuals and communities.

The event was attended by our Chair Dan Jenkins, CEO Leigh-Ann Little and General Manager Jenni Donnelly.  Dan was hosted at the ICC President’s table with Leigh-Ann and Jenni enjoying the company of ICC Deputy CEO Paula Nicol alongside business leaders from Tomatin Distillery and the Bank of England.

Dan Jenkins Chair, Eunice McAdam President, Stewart Nicol outgoing CEO

It was a brilliant evening, celebrating the many successes of Highland businesses. Hosted by the brilliant Liam Christie the evening was sprinkled with speeches from ICC President Eunice McAdam who spoke of the triumphs and tribulations faced by businesses and individuals in the area and encouraged.   CEO Stewart Nicol, who gave a heartfelt speech describing his 15-year tenure. He enthusiastically praised the team he has worked alongside and the businesses and organisations that he has seen flourish, often in spite of the continued adversity faced by the region due to the cost of living crisis, transport infrastructure issues and the aftermath of the Covid pandemic.  As he formally handed over the reins to new CEO Colin Marr, he wished him every success and promised to be a positive ambassador for the work of the ICC in the years ahead.

Gordon Buchanan MBE …now breathe

A highlight of the evening was guest speaker, renowned Scottish filmmaker and award-winning wildlife presenter Gordon Buchanan MBE.   Gordon had the audience captivated with his stories, images and footage of his incredible 30 year career that has taken him around the globe – which drew laughter, gasps and the odd squeal (most vocally from Leigh-Ann) as he showed the various animal encounters he has had, including some colossal (Leigh-Ann’s description) spiders.
