Many of you who come to The Oxygen Works will have met the incredible Helen and Davy Duncan.
When illness struck Davy during the pandemic, their lives would be forever changed. A series of health setbacks followed, including strokes and seizures, leaving Davy confined to a wheelchair. But through it all, Helen stood by his side. Together, they continue to work on Davy’s rehabilitation, with Davy learning to walk and talk again. This dedication culminating on Davy being raised to his feet on their wedding day last April, to have his first dance with his new wife.
Helen will push Davy in a specially designed wheelchair around the gruelling 26-mile Loch Ness Marathon to raise vital funds for The Oxygen Works. The marathon effort is in memory of Helen’s childhood schoolfriend and long standing client of TOW, Angela Gillies. If ever there was a couple capable of instilling hope that adversity can be overcome with the love, perseverance and support of others it is Helen and Davy.
On Wednesday 17th April 2024, the centre was buzzing with a journalist and photographer from the Press & Journal coming in to cover their remarkable story and to share the importance of their fundraising efforts for our charity. You can read the full story by John Ross here.
